Flying in from Toronto, I explored Granville Island, Stanley Park, and the Vancouver Public Library before ending my first glimpse of the city with a sunset at Spanish Banks.
-
From a morning stroll around the neighbourhood to the forest and suspension bridge of Lynn Canyon, then on to a shopping centre and residential streets in West Vancouver—a glimpse of the city’s rhythms between nature and everyday urban life.
-
A ferry ride to Vancouver Island during the pandemic, capturing fellow passengers in the cabins and on deck, the seascapes along the way, and the sense of motion created by tilted compositions.
-
Turning away from The Butchart Gardens’ familiar postcard views, I focused instead on pandemic signs, visitors’ gestures, and chance encounters—recording a travel experience unique to that moment behind the beauty.
-
Hiking the Joffre Lakes trail past glacial lakes, rushing streams, and steep slopes, I discovered—in my fellow hikers and the details along the way—the perseverance it takes to reach a place of such beauty.
-
Rather than photographing only the turquoise waters of Joffre Lakes, I turned my gaze to tree rings, roots, stones, and dappled shadows, searching along the trail for traces left by time, wind, and light.
-
A day spent exploring Victoria’s Chinatown, Market Square, Fisherman’s Wharf, and the Parliament Buildings, with lighthearted yet perceptive observations spanning tourist landmarks, city commerce, and details of street life.
-
From Richmond’s Winter Olympics venue to Fort Langley’s historic site, antique shops, and old-town streets, I traced British Columbia’s past before making a detour to White Rock to continue my wanderings along the coast.
-
Through reflections in shop windows, street art, and passing figures, Vancouver emerges as both dreamlike and faintly lonely—a city of pandemic-shuttered shops and unhurried streets.
