In April 2022, Amber was going to film an interview at a well-known art school in Toronto, so I tagged along to learn a few things.

Jin Art Education was founded in Toronto, Canada, in October 2008. It encompasses the Jin Art Portfolio Preparation Centre, the Jin Art Children’s Centre, and the Jin Art Adult Centre. For more than a decade, it has specialized in professional art education and portfolio preparation for admission to leading art schools in Europe and North America. Since its founding, it has maintained a 100 percent success rate for admission to prestigious schools, with more than 86 percent of its students successfully securing scholarships, earning it a reputation as a highly accomplished professional art school.

Hands: Photographed and Drawn

The hand is one of the most fundamental parts of the body to draw—and perhaps one of the most complex. Students at Jin Art do a great deal of practice drawing hands here.

Rooms, Walls, and Doors

Alongside several large communal spaces, there are many smaller studios.

Many are private rooms for one-on-one instruction, catering to each student’s individual needs.

Do even the doors have to be this much fun?

Props

A school’s collection of props reveals both its scale and the range of training it can offer its students. Of all the art schools I have visited, this one has the largest and most varied collection.

Paint

With so many students, the centre goes through a great deal of paint, and splashes of colour can be seen everywhere.

In addition to painting, the centre offers opportunities to work in other forms of art.
